Rivenhall start-up follows "milestone year" for Indaver

The start of regular operation at the Rivenhall EfW plant wraps up a four-and-a-half-year construction phase.

Indaver began accepting and processing waste at its Rivenhall Integrated Waste Management Facility in England last week. Located in a former quarry in Essex, the facility is the company's largest waste-to-energy (wte) plant and can process up to 595,000 tonnes of non-recyclable household and commercial waste annually and generate 55 MW of electricity. Construction began with site preparation in 2021 and the plant was handed over by technology supplier Kanadevia Inova earlier this year. Indaver put the total investment at around €680m.

The facility was identified in the company's recently published 2025 sustainability report as one of the company's two main projects for the reporting period, which CEO Karl Huts called "a milestone year" for energy generation and material recovery.
