Saica buys Polish waste management company Fox Recykling

The Spanish paper and packaging group Saica will expand its footprint in the recycling market in Poland. The company announced in mid-December that it had reached an agreement to acquire 76 per cent of the shares of Fox Recykling, a waste management company based in Gdynia on the Polish Baltic Sea coast. The acquisition strengthens Saica's growth strategy in Eastern Europe and expands the footprint of its business division Saica Natur. The acquisition is part of the company's strategic development plan "Saica 2025", according to the company. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

According to its own account, Fax Recykling has been active in the secondary raw materials market since 1991 and collects recyclable waste from commercial generators such as printing companies, production plants and shops. In the recovered paper sector, Fox Recykling focuses on supermarket paper and board, OCC, paper for deinking, mixed paper and white grades, and offers document destruction services.
