Germany’s Schwarz Group says reportedly largely positive results following the conclusion of its "Reset Plastic" strategy at the end of its 2025 fiscal year. Group companies reportedly achieved or exceeded the targets for plastic reduction and the use of recycled material. With respect to its target for recyclability of packaging materials, however, the group said its progress had been limited by "industry-wide and regulatory hurdles."
According to a press release, Schwarz subsidiaries Lidl and Kaufland reduced the use of plastic in private-label primary packaging and transport aids by 36 per cent compared with 2017, thereby surpassing the original goal of 30 per cent. As examples, the company cited the switch from plastic to paper packaging for Lidl’s soup mix vegetables as well as lighter-weight smoothie bottles at Kaufland....
