Sita UK Limited has signed a long-term residual waste management contract with the South Tyne and Wear Waste Partnership in Northern England. The contract, which runs for 25 year, involves the construction and operation of a waste incineration plant with a treatment capacity of 256,000 a year. Announcing the signing of the contract on Thursday, Sita put its value at €825m. Including revenues from the treatment of third-party waste and sale of electricity, the contract value totals more than €1.2bn, the company reported.
