Stakeholder platform sets out recommendations for stronger EPR systems

The European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP) has presented proposals to improve extended producer responsibility (EPR) in a white paper published earlier this summer. The aim is to shift end-of-life product costs more effectively to producers in line with the "polluter pays" principle.

To achieve this, the platform's economic incentives leadership group recommends, among other measures, higher fees to reflect environmental impacts, stronger eco-modulation, tighter action against free riders, and non-discriminatory and transparent tender procedures....
