Steep decline in Germany’s first-quarter recovered paper imports

Germany recorded a significant fall in recovered paper imports in the first three months of this year. Demand for recovered paper from mills had slowed markedly, as reported by EUWID in its monthly market coverage, with demand for imports also proving weak as a result. Recent figures from the German Federal Statistical Office provide further evidence supporting the trend observed by market participants. The country exported marginally more recovered paper in the same period. However, sharp growth in exports to the Far East is striking.
