Strong recyclate prices keep Renewi on course in Q1

While down from recent peaks, high scrap metal prices continued to contribute to Renewi's financial performance in the first quarter.

The Anglo-Dutch waste management company Renewi saw its revenue increase in annual comparison in the first financial quarter of 2022/23. Group earnings before interest and tax (Ebit) were likewise ahead of the prior year and in line with expectations, the group said in trading update issued Thursday. Recyclate prices had remained "resilient" in the three months ended 30 June. While ferrous metal prices had fallen from the peaks reached in past few months, prices remained well above historic averages. Renewi said that it was continuing "to maintain tight cost control and to actively manage the impact of inflationary cost pressures."...
