Suez acquires waste firm EnviroServ in South Africa

A few months after changing hands and shedding major parts of its international business, French environmental services group Suez is expanding its presence in South Africa. Suez and two partners have signed a binding agreement to acquire the waste management firm EnviroServ. In a 8 June announcement, Suez says this acquisition will enable it to “reinforce its positioning as an international player in industrial and municipal waste treatment activities and to strengthen its position in the African continent.” The Paris-based group did not provide any details about the purchase price.

According to the press release, EnviroServ Holdings Proprietary Limited was founded in 1979, has 2,200 employees, and generates an annual turnover of more than €80m....
