The European waste management operations of French group Suez Environnement generated revenues of €1.580bn in the first quarter of 2011, an increase by 16 per cent compared with the same period last year. Announcing its quarterly figures in Paris on Thursday, the environmental services company attributed the growth mainly to a sharp rise in secondary materials prices, along with higher volumes. Other activities also benefited from rising waste volumes against the background of a gradual economic recovery.
