Reverse vending machine suppliers Tomra and Envipco have secured major orders from British retailers as preparations accelerate for the planned launch of deposit return schemes (DRSs) for certain types of single-use beverage packaging across the UK.
The UK's deposit return scheme for beverage packaging is currently scheduled to launch in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland on 1 October 2027. The start date for the Welsh DRS, which is being developed independently, also officially stands at 1 October 2027.
