Twence's 2022 earnings jump due to soaring energy prices

The Dutch waste management company Twence reports "exceptionally positive results for 2022", which the company described as both an extraordinary and a turbulent year. Last year's high result could largely be traced to the high energy prices that characterised much of 2022, the company explained. Twence posted revenues of €181.5m in 2022, up 45 per cent year-over-year. Operating income had nearly doubled to €43m and the company's after-tax profit had soared from just over €12m to €32.5m last year. Managing director Marc Kapteijn explained that half the result will be paid out as a dividend to Twence's fifteen shareholder municipalities and "The other half will be used to speed up the process of making the region sustainable."

Among the highlights reported for 2022 were the completion of  a new biogas facility in Zenderen, in the region Overijssel, and of a heat pipeline to the Grolsch brewery Waste volumes in several categories pointed lower last year....
