Umicore is planning to embark on a major expansion of its battery recycling activities. The Belgian metals group is set to spend around €500m on building a large-scale plant with an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes. This greenfield project is slated for commissioning in 2026 and will use the latest evolution in Umicore’s "pyro-hydro" technology.
