Veolia and Faurecia working together on recycled plastic

The French environmental group Veolia and automotive supplier Faurecia plan to increase the use of recycled material in the production of plastic parts for automotive interiors and have signed a research and cooperation agreement laying out the terms of the partnership. The companies planned to achieve an average recycled content rate of 30 per cent as soon as 2025, Veolia said in early May in a press release.

The group’s COO Estelle Brachlianoff confirmed that Veolia intends to increase its plastic recycling activities in France and around the globe. Ms Brachlianoff, who will take over the reins as Veolia’s CEO from 1 July, plans to continue work towards a goal set by the company in 2017 to boost revenues from plastic recycling to €1bn by 2025.

Veolia and Faurecia intend to work together to develop innovative compounds for interior modules. The partnership would accelerate the introduction of “breakthrough” sustainable materials for instrument panels, door panels and centre consoles in Europe, the companies reported....
