The Wieland Group has begun construction work at the end of May on a copper recycling centre at its largest German site in Vöhringen which is to feature efficient, state-of-the-art technology. Once it goes live, the new €80m centre is expected to increase the global recycling rate of Wieland products to over 80 percent, the company reported.
The Wieland Group is also expanding their recycling capacities in the USA. The company officially launched construction of a recycling and refining centre for copper and copper alloys at its site in Shelbyville, Kentucky in 2022, reported Andreas Tom Fenster, vice president metals management Europe, at the spring convention of the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) in Copenhagen at the end of May. Together, the two centres will enable the group to use lower-quality copper scrap that it was previously unable to process, according to Mr Fenster....
