Zollikofer acquires French biomass company REKO Energie Bois

The German logistics and trading company Zollikofer has acquired the French wood and biomass supplier REKO Energie Bois. This takeover marks Zollikofer’s first foray into the market in eastern France and expands the group’s business activities in the areas of fuelwood and biomass, the company announced in a press release.

"This acquisition of REKO is a key strategic step for Zollikofer to expand its activities into the French market and an important step toward growing further in the biomass sector," commented Philipp Hill, managing director at Zollikofer.

Zollikofer has been majority-owned since 2021 by Koehler Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the German paper group Koehler. For the parent group, this deal will help optimise the supply of biomass for its combined heat and power (CHP) plants, and support the conversion from coal to biomass fuel of the Koehler paper mill’s power plant in Oberkirch in Germany's southwest....
