Copper prices remain at a high level. In the final week of May, the LME copper price moved relatively steadily around the US$13,500 per tonne mark. This is more than 8 per cent higher than at the beginning of 2026 and 40 per cent above the level seen a year ago. On the non-ferrous metals recycling market, certain grades recorded modest price increases in Germany in the past week.

According to the news agency MBI, the wholesale purchase price for copper scrap rose by €10 per 100 kilograms on the German market compared with the previous week. Brass scrap prices increased by €5, while prices for zinc scrap and nickel-chrome stainless steel scrap remained unchanged. By contrast, aluminium scrap prices resumed their upward movement after two weeks of stagnation, rising by between €5 and €10 per 100 kg, depending on the grade.
