Copper prices are under pressure. Since the end of February, the London Metal Exchange price has fallen by around $900 per tonne. Copper scrap prices also declined significantly in the past week.

According to the news agency MBI, wholesale purchasing prices for copper scrap fell by €30 per 100 kilogramme across all grades on the German market in the third week of March. Heavy and light brass scrap lost €15 compared to the prior week while prices for brass rod turnings and new rolled brass scrap decreased by up to €20. Purchase prices for old zinc scrap declined by €5.

Supported by high LME prices, aluminium scrap maintained the previous week’s price level. Prices for the nickel-chromium stainless steel scrap grades V2A and V4A increased by €5.
