Another LME price slump sends non-ferrous scrap prices lower

The metal markets remain very volatile. After a peaking briefly at the start of the month, the LME copper price again slumped, sliding by over $200 per tonne. The softening exchange price also wholesale scrap metal prices to fall last week.

According to the news service MBI, wholesale buying-in prices for copper scrap fell by €5-25 per 100 kg in the business week commencing 27 February. Brass scrap prices decreased by €5-10 and those for old zinc scrap €5. Only the lower aluminium scrap grades saw prices deteriorate....
