
After May brought a trend turnaround in prices for ordinary recovered paper grades in Italy, another significant downward step occurred in June. Good availability and softening demand led to the mark-downs, which erased some of the ground gained in previous price surges.
Old corrugated containers (OCC) were more affected than mixed paper and board, so prices for the two grades have moved closer. By contrast, deinking grades and higher recovered paper grades had mostly stable prices in June.
The export business had picked up in June but only slowly, market participants told EUWID, and prices on the Far East export market were still not especially attractive in June.
