The copper price on the London Metal Exchange (LME) has fallen by around $200 from its early October peak but remains at a high level. Copper and brass scrap prices have also eased slightly on the German market in recent trading.

According to the news agency MBI, wholesale buying-in prices for copper scrap fell by €10 per 100 kilogrammes in the third full week of October compared to the week before. Prices for all brass scrap grades declined by the same amount.

Old lead scrap and battery lead dropped by €3 and €5 per 100 kilogrammes, respectively. By contrast, old zinc scrap and the aluminium scrap grades covered by MBI were traded at the same prices as the previous week. The stainless steel scrap grade V2A also remained stable, while the alloy V4A rose by €5 per 100 kilogrammes.
