
After the recent weeks' price rally, the London Metal Exchange copper price has stabilised at a high level of around $11,700 per tonne last week. On the metals recycling market, wholesale traders reported further slight price increases for copper scrap in Germany in the third week of December, while brass scrap, zinc scrap and aluminium scrap declined in value.
According to the news agency MBI, the wholesale purchasing price for copper scrap rose by €5-10 per 100 kilogrammes compared to the previous week, depending on grade. Prices for new rolled brass scrap and brass rod turnings, by contrast, fell by €5 and €10 per 100 kg, respectively.
Old zinc scrap declined by €10, while scrap lead was down €5. For aluminium scrap, a price decrease of €5 per 100 kilogrammes was reported across all grades covered by MBI.
