The new year began on a good note for the German PET recycling market. Most companies reported robust sales of clear flakes in January, primarily due to catch-up orders after downtimes in December. Converters that usually opted for virgin PET had reportedly also placed orders, indicating delays to imports of cheap virgin PET.
In most instances, transactions were priced the same as in December, although higher prices emerged in a few isolated cases for flakes. Market players noted that buyers with good amounts of material in stock refused to dig deeper into their pockets....
