E-scrap recyclers in Germany compete for small equipment and hope for economic upturn

The situation on the German e-waste treatment market remains tense in spring 2025. Volumes are mostly stable, but at times fluctuate significantly. Strong competition - including from recyclers outside Germany – is putting treatment prices under pressure, in particular for small end-of-life equipment. While proceeds from the sale of precious metals remain high, copper and ferrous scrap prices are coming under increasing pressure.

At the same time, treatment costs continue to rise, not least due to the increasing share of equipment containing batteries in e-scrap.
