The 27 EU member states exported more recovered paper to destinations outside the European Union ("third countries") last year. Compared to 2021, when exports to third countries reached an 18-year low, extra-EU shipments increased by 12 per cent to 4.9 million tonnes. In contrast, imports of recovered paper into the EU fell slightly, edging 1 per cent lower to 2.4 million tonnes. The figures are part of a preliminary dataset recently released by the European statistics office Eurostat....
