Following a turbulent first half of the year which saw recovered paper prices in Poland first skyrocket then recede, the market gradually calmed down in summer. But the calm is deceptive, as surveyed market players report. One respondent describes the situation as tense. Collection volumes remain low, but are enough to meet equally weak demand from European paper mills.
However, market experts warn that if there is a sudden change – whether due to misjudged purchasing or unexpected surge in demand – the limited amount of raw materials may not be sufficient and might trigger another price explosion as last spring.
The quarterly EUWID report on the recovered paper market in Poland covers supermarket paper and board (1.04), new shavings of corrugated board (4.01), graphic paper for deinking (1.11) and white woodfree uncoated shavings (3.18.01).
