The French market for ordinary recovered paper grades was still pretty balanced in October. Demand from paper mills in France eased slightly in recent weeks, but exports to Asia held steady. At the same time, collection volumes of mixed paper, supermarket paper and board and old corrugated containers (OCC) remained low. Prices have stayed the same again as a result.
Demand for deinking grades was generally subdued, which led to price cuts this month, especially on the French domestic market. Downward price adjustments occurred here and there for high grades of recovered paper, as well. China's recent tightening of import rules governing recycled pulp has not had an impact on the export business with Asian customers so far.
