German recovered paper imports down by a quarter

The economic slowdown in Germany continues to reduce the recovered paper consumption at domestic paper mills and other converting facilities, also resulting in lower recovered paper imports. Recovered paper imports in the first nine months of the year receded year-on-year by 26 per cent to 3.12 million tonnes, as borne out by current figures of the Federal Statistical Office Destatis. Recovered paper exports also eased in the period by two per cent to 1.15 million tonnes, leaving Germany’s status as a net importer of recovered paper untouched.

In volume terms, the biggest decline was observed for recovered paper imports from the Netherlands. Shipments from Poland, France and the UK to Germany were also down. ...
