Germany has imported significantly less recovered paper than usual this year. According to the German statistics office (Destatis), imports of "paper or cardboard for recovery” fell by 31 per cent in the first six months of the year to 1.92 million tonnes compared to the same period last year. Such a low import volume was last seen in 2013. The low level underscores weak demand from the German paper industry for the raw material as documented by the monthly EUWID market surveys.
