The situation on the German market for recovered paper eased again in June after what many players described as “catastrophic” logistics problems in the previous month. While transport capacity remains constrained and logistics costs elevated, the severe disruption seen in May has largely subsided after the last of the public holidays was over.
In the current month, nearly all respondents describe the market as balanced and thus expect sideways price movement for most recovered paper grades. Occasionally, players reported mark-ups of €5 at most for mixed paper as well as supermarket paper and board and up to €10 for sorted graphic paper for deinking and woodfree grades. Only the high white grades were apparently seeing “clear double-digit” price increases....
