The German waste plastics market saw largely stable prices in May despite reasonably good demand. Some recyclers described the month as quieter, while others reported being sold out. With the initial "price shock" for virgin plastics triggered by the Middle East hostilities easing somewhat, further price increases for recyclates and regrind could no longer be pushed through. Market participants noted that primary material prices have begun to fall sharply again.
For June, market participants in the German plastics recycling sector expect prices to remain broadly stable or soften slightly. Converters are said to be adequately supplied, demand from end markets is easing due to the time of year, and additional imports of virgin polymers could increase downward pressure on primary material prices.
