Autumn on the German waste wood market has largely developed in line with the expectations expressed by market participants in the previous EUWID survey in late July. Apart from some regional exceptions, the market has generally "remained very calm", and players have therefore left prices untouched, said one major market player.
With some exceptions, winter stock levels are sufficient. On the whole, players in the waste wood segment believe they are in good shape heading into the heating season. But they explain that the absence of supply pressure could be mainly attributed to the subdued demand to date. Intake volumes have definitely tapered off and arisings are "not exactly exciting", said one major processor.
The price corridor for Germany's BEHG fuel levy is slated to rise to €55-65 per tonne of CO2 next year. Power plant operators are apparently calculating with the upper end of range to be on the safe side.
