With very few exceptions, Germany’s waste wood market is "relaxed and calm" throughout the country. Arisings even tend to slightly exceed demand, especially in southern and north-western Germany, according to market participants.
As in previous months, large amounts of oversize green waste and organic waste for composting are currently being offered. However, buyers are often accepting such limited volumes of this materiall, sources spoke of "homeopathic doses".
Sources told EUWID that demand for waste wood grades used for material recycling remains relatively stable in spite of the weak economic climate. However, prices for this type of material were adjusted downward in southern Germany in view of the good supply situation.
Looking ahead, market participants largely expect prices to remain stable into the autumn. Movement is not anticipated until the fourth quarter, when demand from biomass power plants increases, for instance from facilities which are contractually obligated to provide district heating.
