Trading on the German recovered paper market got off to a relatively calm start in March. Supply and demand were again mostly in balance, leaving prices for the bulk grades largely stable. Likewise, insiders reported little movement in March prices for medium and high grades.
However, unease is growing in light of recent geopolitical developments. "If the Iran war had not broken out, March would have been a rather dull month," one expert told EUWID. The crisis in the Middle East has further heightened uncertainty in the recovered paper market, as higher energy costs are pushing up paper production expenses and surging diesel prices are increasing logistics costs. Sharply higher sea freight rates are also casting doubt over exports to the Far East....
