Prices of post-consumer single-use PET bottles from deposit systems have increased in Germany. In some cases, the rates agreed at the beginning of February were raised again during the month, and German recyclers paid as much as €20 to €60/tonne more than in January. High demand and low availability resulted in some plants being undersupplied. The price increase in plastic bottles is due to the strong demand for flakes and regranulates which in return results from price hikes for primary PET.
Germany records further price rise in used PET bottles
