The underlying conditions on the waste wood market in Germany have barely changed since the last market report three months ago. The supply situation remains good overall and many players have now built up large inventories ahead of the winter.
"The overall trend right now is favourable for power plant operators," said one material stream manager. In southern Germany, in particular, there is reportedly a glut of material, while northeastern Germany is seeing only a slight supply overhang.
There is still widespread agreement that transport capacity is sufficiently available right now, including ship and barge capacity.
As in previous months, there are still large volumes of oversize screening residues from the composting of organic waste and green cuttings being offered on the market. Depending on the quality, there is a very wide range of acceptance prices for this fraction, market participants report.
