There was little change on Italy’s recovered paper market in June. Production activity in the paper industry was stable at average levels while collection volumes were low but sufficient. Against this backdrop, prices for ordinary recovered paper grades remained stable at the previous month’s level. No price changes were recorded for the medium and higher grades, either.
Italian recycling and waste management companies reported generally satisfactory business conditions in June. Prices for mixed paper and board (1.02), supermarket paper and board (1.04), and old corrugated containers (OCC, 1.05) were rolled over unchanged from May into June. Only in isolated cases were the lowest prices adjusted upward, pushing prices towards the upper end of the existing price range without shifting its lower end.
Demand from Italian paper mills and from Asia remained good, according to suppliers. Market participants told EUWID that most paper and board mills in Italy were operating without interruption, although their order books were reportedly far from strong.
