Germany’s recovered paper market has become a little more even-keeled, at least when it comes to ordinary grades. Market players are almost unanimously reporting a lateral movement in prices for mixed paper and supermarket paper and board in May. In just a few instances, prices are reportedly rising slightly. The picture was very different for the medium and high grades, with prices expected to soften again in May.

As already expected by market participants, a split in the market emerged in April, with noticeably higher prices for bulk grades and at least at times significant price cuts for graphic and high grades reported by recovered paper suppliers and consumers.
