The recovery in exchange prices for non-ferrous metals continued in the past week. The LME copper price rose by around $600 per tonne by mid-week, aluminium prices even climbed to a four-year high. These developments also lifted prices for copper, brass and aluminium scrap.
According to the new agency MBI, the wholesale purchasing price for copper scrap increased by €30-35 per 100 kilogrammes on the German market, depending on the grade. Brass scrap prices increased by €20 in the second full week of April compared with the week before. In the aluminium scrap sector, only the higher grades saw price increases, which stood at €5 per 100 kilogrammes, while prices for lower grades remained unchanged. There were no price changes for zinc scrap and nickel-chromium steel scrap, according to MBI.
