Business conditions did not change much on the Italian recovered paper market in September. Demand for the ordinary grades was relatively steady but weak, while collection volumes were likewise low and prices tended to decline. This was especially true for old corrugated containers (OCC). Prices of the deinking grades were stable, with just a few exceptions, and those for the higher grades were likewise stable in September.
Producers of recycled packaging paper, cartonboard and coreboard did not have a very good start after the summer holiday break. Players often described ordering as persistently weak. At least in the corrugated case material segment, however, there was barely any market-related idling in September, after the extended downtimes that were taken in August....
