The German recycled PET market appears to have bottomed out. Additional, minor markdowns did surface for bottles and flakes in August, but insiders now largely expect prices to hold steady at a low level.
The rising price of primary PET in Europe and the fact that flakes from Asia were more expensive than those from Europe are providing a welcome boost to recyclers with large inventories. As a result, recycled PET is more attractive again to buyers from the film sector and the bottle industry.
