June was another satisfactory month for PET recyclers in Germany. Amidst good demand for flakes and regranulate in a calm market, there were no further price adjustments. Recyclers unanimously report that prices rolled over from May into June – for both recyclate and bottles. One factor contributing to the stability was the limited availability of low-priced imports of primary plastics from Asia since container freight rates from the Far East have risen markedly. As a result, material from Asia now cost roughly as much as European-manufactured primary PET, which had recently become somewhat more expensive.
There was very respectable demand for clear PET flakes. Bottle producers were once again the main buyers, while customers from the films industry were still reticent with their purchases. Prices for flakes held steady...
