PET recyclers in Germany see signs of easing on the market. In June, arisings of post-consumer deposit-bearing bottles were up significantly. Due to the hot weather, beverage consumption increased substantially between May and June, and was additionally boosted by numerous celebrations and events. Sourcing post-consumer PET bottles was therefore usually not a problem: Arisings in June were up by 12-20 per cent compared to May, say market participants, who were sometimes receiving deliveries of larger volumes than were stipulated by their contracts. The more expensive offerings on the spot market were often rejected, EUWID was told. On the whole, purchase prices rolled over in June, respondents agree.
