Harder times lie ahead for PET recyclers. After more than two years of solid to strong order books, market insiders in Germany are warning of a crisis on the horizon. "The short-term outlook is not positive," said one major recycler.
The German PET bottle recycling market faced greater pressure than expected in August. Following the usual summer peak in beverage sales and high collection volumes of post-consumer single-use bottles, stocks of baled bottles, flakes and food-grade recycled pellet have grown significantly. At the same time, demand is weaker than in previous years....
