|

Weak demand remained the most significant challenge for plastics recyclers in Germany in January. Although many waste plastics consumers resumed operations after the year-end break, this failed to translate into any noticeable improvement in sales volumes. Instead, market players continued to grapple with inventory destocking, with orders being cancelled or postponed. Sales remained sluggish for almost all grades. Increasingly, recyclers were also declining regular contractual volumes or shying away from signing annual contracts due to the uncertainty over the availability of downstream take-off or disposal.

The economic situation across the sector remains extremely strained.
