Prices falling after the Polish recovered paper market hits the skids

Market participants active in Poland had expected for quite some time that recovered paper prices would fall again at some point after skyrocketing into the summer. Yet, even long-standing market players were actually surprised by the timing, the speed and the extent of the course reversal. Supermarket paper and board fell considerably in the span of just two months. In September and October, lower prices were sometimes pushed through weekly in cases where prices were not specified in monthly contracts, paper producers said, cautioning that the contract business still has just a small share of Poland’s recovered paper market....
