Prices for ordinary recovered paper grades slide again in Germany

On the German recovered paper market, the downward price trend for the ordinary grades has continued in September. The good availability of supermarket paper and board – due to imports from neighbouring countries in combination with weak demand from the paper industry – caused prices to fall noticeably. Once again, there were significantly smaller price declines for mixed paper, where collection volumes are weak as a result of the summer holiday season.

The price trend for sorted graphic paper for deinking is expected to be nearly flat in September. For the medium and higher grades of recovered paper, supply and demand are balanced at a low level, so prices here are also generally stable at the moment, market participants told EUWID.

In August, too, price trends for the various grades were mixed on the German recovered paper market.
