Contrary to the expectations of many paper producers, prices for mixed paper and board (1.02), supermarket paper and board (1.04) and old corrugated containers (OCC, 1.05) did not slide further on the French market in December. Waste management companies and recyclers were able to keep prices at the prior-month level.
However, suppliers had more difficulties with the higher grades of recovered paper, which are difficult to sell right now and thus became cheaper again. Demand for sorted graphic paper for deinking from buyers outside of France was very weak as well, so prices softened further.
