
Another round of significant price mark-downs has occurred on France’s recovered paper market. In July, prices for ordinary grades took a further downward step following the reductions in June. Especially towards the end of the month, a summer calm appeared to be settling over the market.
Sorted graphic paper for deinking and some higher recovered paper grades also became slightly cheaper in July.
A combination of factors led to the price reductions for ordinary grades. For one thing, demand on the French domestic market remained rather weak, market participants told EUWID. Many buyers said availability was more than adequate even though collection volumes were low.
The latest price cuts on the French market mean that prices paid for recovered paper on Asian export markets have now become significantly more attractive again for merchants and recyclers.
