The aluminium price on the LME is approaching an all-time high. It was last trading at about $3,600 a tonne, leaving it less than $250 below the record reached in March 2022. Copper prices are also hovering near historic highs. In the German non-ferrous scrap market, this spurred further price increases.
According to news service MBI, the wholesale buying-in price for copper scrap rose by €15 per 100 kilogrammes at the start of the week commencing 20 April. Brass scrap gained €5-10 depending on grade, while old zinc traded €10 above the previous week's level. Aluminium scrap prices increased by between €5 and €15 per 100 kilogrammes, depending on grade. The price for the nickel chrome steel cuttings V2A rose by €5.
