Recovered paper prices in France still moving sideways

Some reductions in export prices for sorted graphic paper for deinking

|

Overall, supply and demand on the recovered paper market in France remain balanced. Despite fetching high prices on the Far East export market, the ordinary grades did not become any more expensive for domestic buyers in February, nor were there any decreases reported. Sorted graphic paper for deinking was readily available, according to market participants, but only prices for exports to neighbouring countries declined in some cases. Prices of the higher recovered paper grades were usually stable in February.

There is still a quite considerable gap between the recovered paper prices in France and those on the Asian export market. Nevertheless, prices being paid in France for mixed paper and board (1.02), supermarket paper and board (1.04) and old corrugated containers (OCC; 1.05) held steady yet again in February. Suppliers had sometimes tried to raise prices but were unsuccessful, according to several buyers.
